Hay all, To all the photographers out there who are feeling unmotivated and depressed
I know how it feels. I’ve been there myself. There are days when I just don’t feel like picking up my camera. Or when I feel like my photos are all terrible. Or when I feel like I’m not good enough to even call myself a photographer or even an educator.
But I want to remind you that you are good enough. You are a talented photographer. Your work matters more than you will ever know.
If you’re feeling unmotivated, try to find something that inspires you. It could be anything from a beautiful landscape to a funny moment with your family or friend. Once you find something that inspires you, grab your camera and go out and shoot, create and share the wonderful world that you see around you.
If you’re feeling depressed, don’t be afraid to reach out for help. Talk to a friend or a family member, you are not alone, lean on those closest to you when you need it.
Remember, you’re awesome and the people closest to you will always be there to help you.
some tips that might also help
Take a break. If you’re feeling burnt out, it’s okay to take a break from photography. Come back to it when you’re feeling more inspired or motivated, remember it’s not a race.
Set small goals. Don’t try to do too much at once. Set small goals for yourself, such as taking one photo a day or editing a set of photos each week.
Find a support structure. These can be friends, family or simply other photographers online, find like minded people that inspire you or simply find that one friend who will joke around with you all day and night.
Don’t compare yourself to others. It’s easy to fall into the trap of comparing yourself to other photographers, but this is only going to make you feel worse. Remember, everyone is on their own journey. Focus on your own progress and don’t worry about what other people are doing.
I know that depression can be tough to deal with, but it’s important to remember that you’re not alone. And there is help available. If you’re struggling, please reach out to someone for help, never just sit around sulking, change starts with you.
And remember, you are a talented photographer. Your work matters.
So keep shooting, keep sharing and be yourself, you are not alone.
